Movie Mania

Team Spirals conducted Movie Mania on the 1st of April 2022. Movie Mania is an event for the cinephiles, where one can either review a movie or make plot changes to that film. The event was held in the ECE Block and got an outstanding 100 student participation.

The event started with the rules of the event being laid out. A few members of Team Spirals even did their own reviews and plot changes of a few iconic movies. The participants were asked to select a movie from any genre and language and express their view on it, why they thought great of the film or change the storyline to what sounds more captivating than the original. Some of the participants came up with many fascinating and engaging plot changes and some with insightful reviews of their own.

The jury was comprised of two Spirals members who graded each participant on their performance from varying criteria like fluency, creativity, body language, dialogue delivery, emotion, content and many more.

The two best participants in both categories were handed awards from the organizing committee. The event nurtured and kindled all the cinephiles’ interest. This gave all the like-minded talent a platform to meet.

Women’s Day – 2022

Celebrating Women for all they are, International Women’s Day was celebrated on 8th March 2022 at our college. The lively event was organized by Gokaraju Rangaraju Educational society. It was volunteered by Women Development Cell in association with WIE and NSS. In line with the theme of International Women’s Day, the concept behind the program was “Gender equality for a better tomorrow.”

For the International Women’s Day Celebrations, we were graced with the presence of Guest speakers Dr. G. Jalaja Veronica and Dr. SubbaRao M Gavaravarapu. The dignitaries for the event included the Chief Administrator- Sri M.G. Sekharam, the principal of GRIET- Dr. J. Praveen, Principal of GRCP- Dr. Giriraj Kulkarni, Coordinator of WDC and Chairperson ASHC- Dr. G. Mamatha.

The event had an auspicious start and began with the seeking of divine blessings. The event raised a lot of enthusiasm and fanfare while appreciating the various Economic, Social, cultural, and political achievements made by women over the years.

Citing the importance of celebrating Women’s Day, Dr. G. Mamatha addressed the gathering. Her sentiment on women being an epitome of selflessness, love, beauty, and sacrifice was shared by many. This was followed by Dr. Giriraj Kulkarni appreciating the Indian culture by stating that the Indian culture teaches us to respect women in the form of Goddesses. He familiarised us with the power of women from the olden days to the present.

The event continued as Dr. J Praveen described the various qualities possessed by women. He highlighted their efficiency, leadership skills, and multitasking ability. He emphasized that women symbolize wealth, wisdom, courage, purity, and love. Dr. Jandhyala N Murthy, Director of G.R.I.E.T discussed the significance of women in various roles and shared his vision of a world where women could go out in the dark without fear.

The Guest speaker, Dr. G. Jalaja Veronica addressed the issues women are still confronting   today and encouraged us to support women in need of help. She enlightened us about the significance of the colors chosen for the occasion “Purple represents dignity, green represents hope, and white represents unity.”

Our respected CEO of Gokaraju Educational Society Sri M.G. Sekharam conveyed best wishes to all women on the occasion of International Women’s Day. This was followed by the felicitation of the guests by WDC members. Then the event proceeded with the distribution of AICTE awards to female students from the college for their accomplishments in various fields. Additionally, NSS GRIET conducted a complete health check-up for all the women staff, faculty, and students of GRIET in association with SLG Hospital.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. J. Sridevi, Student Advisor WIE, and Dean Internships. After a short break, a second session began which highlighted the importance of women’s Nutrition. Dr. SubbaRao M Gavaravarapu, Scientist-F from the National Institute of Nutrition gave an enlightening talk in a lively manner. His words were very well received by the audience.

The faculty of GRIET WDC coordinators donated clothes to needy people as a charity service. During the closing remarks, pride and admiration for the event were expressed. Finally, WDC Coordinator, Dr. G. Mamatha gave the vote of thanks. She thanked the GRES management CEO Sri M.G. Sekharam, Director Dr. Jandhyala N Murthy, Principal GRIET, Dr. J Praveen, SAO of GRIET Dr.KSN Raju profusely for all their support. She also thanked HODs, WDC coordinators, Student coordinators, and office staff. Finally, the event was concluded by singing the National Anthem.

Blockchain Workshop

Blockchain is one of the most talked-about technologies at present. It has the potential to drive major changes and create new opportunities across industries. Blockchain is a technology that facilitates the digital exchange of units of value. Anything from currencies to land titles to votes can be tokenized, stored, and exchanged on a blockchain network.

To give the students insight into this Blockchain technology, AAC conducted a Workshop on BlockChain Technology collaborating with TCS. It was an online training program which was conducted from 5th April 2022 to 11th April 2022. A total of 5 sessions were taken to share the knowledge to students about the emerging technology and to teach them the basics of BlockChain its applications.

Ms.Ankita Bhagoliwal is working as an IT Analyst & Certified Scrum Master at Tata Consultancy Services. Her passion to learn the latest technologies and expertise on the same has made her a Certified Blockchain Expert and Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow, Green and Black Belt.

SESSION-1: In the first session blockchain technology was introduced to the students. Shestarted by informing everyone about the history of blockchain in brief and explained about coining of the term ‘Blockchain’. Later on she explained about its decentralized system, and how the involvement of a third party during transactions could be avoided.

SESSION-2: In this session, she talked about the features of the blockchain which include hash cryptography, immutable ledger, mining etc. and explained its types i.e., public, private and consortium. Further, she explained Bitcoins and their Mining process.

SESSION-3: In this session, she continued to talk about the Mining software and the process involved. Then she further explained cryptocurrency and its applications in Blockchain Technology.

SESSION-4: In this session, she introduced the Ethereum cryptocurrency and gave a brief about its history. She also talked about smart contracts and explained the applications of BlockChain in virtual contracts and virtual machines. She focused on web 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 as well.

SESSION-5: In the last session she spoke about Hyper-ledgers and their architecture along with covering the basic syntaxes of Solidity programming language. In the end, she also provided some website links where we could learn further about blockchain technology. Later on, she interacted with the students during the Q&A session.

The Blockchain workshop helped the students to gain knowledge about this booming technology. It briefed them about what this technology is about and gave a pathway to be able to dive deeper into it.
