Webinar on Capital Market Awareness

The capital market and its effect on our economy haven’t been insignificant. The ups and downs of stocks and shares captivate many, be it a shareholder or otherwise.

In this regard, E-cell GRIET in collaboration with LOTUS KNOWLWEALTH organized a webinar on ‘Capital Market Awareness’ on 23rd April 2022 to educate students about the key points to keep in mind while investing in the same.

The Prerequisites for buying/selling shares in the security market, how the capital market operates, the concept of savings/ investments, comparison of returns of BSE, Sensex, and Gold were a few of the topics discussed.

Attendees were informed about the dos and don’ts of investing, their rights as investors and much more in this one-hour session, giving the students a brief insight into the ways of the capital market.

Battle Of Brands

Another online event conducted by E-cell GRIET this year is the ‘Battle Of Brands’ or B-O-B. This was conducted on 23rd January 2022. This event was a more heated event as compared to Pictopreneur.

Teams were to battle against each other in the form of debate. Each session had 2 teams debating, they were both given a company or an established brand each and asked to represent them in the debate. These companies happen to be fierce rivals of each other in the corporate world outside.

The teams were given a specified time to debate and prove their points. They had to qualify through rounds, debating a new team at each and representing a new brand at each until they win the final round and get announced the winner.
The interesting aspect of the event was the teams were given a brand on the spot with a minute or two to gather all the research they possibly could… in a minute or two.

Good arguments were raised, competitive spirits arose and the participants got more and more focused as they proceeded through the rounds. As a whole, it was a successful event and a  stimulating one at that!

IPL Auction

E-cell GRIET is the entrepreneurship developmental hub of our college which conducts multiple events promoting the same. One of their flagship events is the ‘IPL Auction’ which was conducted this year in the month of March.

This event has been inspired by the original IPL Auction that takes place before the IPL series of matches. Here students form teams of 3 to 4 members representing the IPL franchises who go on to bid on players within a given budget. They further win it by obtaining the highest sum of points (as assigned to each of the players bought).

The event was held in 2 sessions, with 10 teams taking part in each. The initial stages involved participants understanding the tune of the game and once they had gotten the knack of it the room resounded with countless bids promptly being placed by the teams.

There was continuous bidding, gameplay, mind work, strategy, quick discussions, swift decisions and whatnot!

An ex sb member was invited as the auctioneer and he did a tremendous job in engaging the teams. The event was captivating until the last minute.

This event brought together, some educational, career progressive skills and the fan favourite: IPL in the perfect blend, providing the participants with a first-hand experience of the mind and tact that goes into the enthralling IPL auction we all love to watch.

This event aimed to develop entrepreneurial virtues like teamwork, time and money management, and decision making among the students and the participants had a good time while learning them.

Pictopreneur

During the days of covid this year, the E-cell SB decided to conduct a couple of light-hearted events online. These were a welcome break from the monotony of the (then) daily. One of them was Pictopreneur. This took place on the 23rd of January 2022.

The event involved participants who signed up as teams of two. They had to decode a given clue and draw it out online for the other teams to guess. This was to be done while a stopwatch ticked in the background. Of course, the team with the least time on their clock would win the game.

The clues however were of businesses that had originated as startups and are now popularly successful in their respective fields.

The event lasted a couple of hours and was refreshingly interactive.

This being one of the first events conducted for the then newly joined 2021-25 batch, the participants held a good majority from the same.

This was a new event introduced by e-cell this year and being simplicity itself, it allowed us to participate in it from the comfort of our own couches.

The participants had a good time and the then newcomers got a taste of how fun our college events can be.
